Lebanese Semolina (Sfouf)
This cake is a common Lebanese sweet that has a very unique taste
All purpose flour
I used non-bleached flour
Add another half cup if you have a sweet tooth
Soften in the microwave or get the butter to room temp
Very important ingredient. Don’t worry though, this cake will taste great without it too!
Pine nuts or almonds
Slivered or halved almonds work well too
Preheat oven to 375F
Mix the semolina, flour, baking powder, turmeric and ground aniseed in a bowl
Add the butter to the bowl and mix with the flour.
Combine and sugar and milk. Once dissolved, the the milk and sugar to the flour mix.
Mix all the ingredients until you get a smooth texture
Pour the ingredients into a greased pan. The pan should be higher than two inches in height. I used a rectangular shaped pan.
Bake for 30-40 minutes.
Let it cool down when finished. Cut into squares or whatever shape you like and enjoy 🙂
